‘Til Death Do Us Party

A Styled Shoot | #weddinginspo

My vision for this ‘Til Death Do Us Party’ shoot was to obviously showcase the suppliers as well as I possibly could. I mean, every single one of these individuals that have worked on this shoot are incredibly talented. Experts in their field through tireless experience and hard work over the years.

When we initially met up, the passionate way in which they discussed colour palettes, styles and the vibe of the whole shoot was incredibly inspiring. In fact, despite adding to the pressure of getting it right for them, it made me excited to have the opportunity to work with such talented artists.

This shoot began through Charlotte’s ideas (Fine & Dandy) and everyone else contributed their talents based on this initial ‘party’ idea. The thing I wanted to convey in the imagery was both the natural couple shots and some more posed, artistic portraits. The natural shots people love, that’s what I spend a lot of my time doing at weddings, but with a little bit of time and a willing couple you can make some really eye catching portraits with aspects as simple as a single window light and a bit of haze.

Even though this was a styled shoot I wanted to use equipment that I would use on an actual wedding day, so no massive soft boxes, just three small speedlites!

Fine & Dandy Events

Charlotte at Fine & Dandy created the concept, and styling throughout, which featured a contemporary cake display with draped backdrop, and sophisticated party area with BAR illuminations and shot wall. The tables were also adorned with cut crystal & silver candlesticks, pewter geometric lanterns, never ending foliage and vellum printed stationery. The colour palette was soft grey & ivory, with silver and pewter metallics, and Haarlem Mill was the perfect venue to compliment this.

The Ruddington Cake Company

Lisa from The Ruddington Cake Company offers some of the best cakes I’ve ever seen (and eaten). She does regular tasting sessions - try and get on one of these! Lisa can create literally anything but for this shoot there was a trio of cakes, an alternative to a traditional tier - A tall cylindrical cake with silver lace to match the dress, a smaller painted chocolate finished cake and lastly a nod towards the industrial setting was a very contemporary ‘concrete block’ with some clever sugar work on the front. They all sit on a set of plinths from Fine & Dandy

HAIR, MAKEUP & ACCESSORIES

Hair - Everyone’s Looking Rosie | Makeup - Peach Berry | Accessories - Love2sparkle

In case you hadn’t noticed already, we had the audacity to attempt two different looks for this shoot, two dresses, two suits and of course two different hair styles, for the first look Rosie created a wild and unstructured touch, which was natural and contemporary. The evening look had a 60’s vibe, which was classic and elegant, with that little bit of edge.

Both hairpieces were created by Love2Sparkle and featured some key trends for 2019. Silver is back in a big way, and the unstructured leaf vine was perfect for a natural & feminine look. Headbands are also key, so Carol designed a statement alice band with a modern twist.

Emma from Peach Berry Make Up enhanced Emily’s natural beauty, playing with soft blush tones for a flawless finish. For the second look, the inspiration also came from the 60’s era with darker tones, which were perfect for that party mood.

FLOWERS & JEWELLERY

Florist - Phoenix Flowers | Jewellery - Keishi Jewellery

The floral hoop was designed by Phoenix Flowers, and was a beautiful piece of art which worked perfectly with the industrial backdrop. Sally also created a sumptuous, loose and unstructured bouquet which was filled with a vast array of textured foliage, and just a few statement florals. Both were full of drama and beauty!

The whimsical and industrial theme was screaming out for Emily to wear baroque pearls and mixed metals, which were designed by Keishi Jewellery. Pearls are often perceived as a safe option for bridal jewellery, however 2019 trends have seen them grow in size, becoming more statement pieces.

Remus Uomo

Formal tailoring brand Remus Uomo provided the suiting. One being a relaxed mis-matched suit, whilst the other had an industrial touch with double breasted waistcoat. Both added an understated sophistication to the traditional wedding suit.
