Salonie & Kurt’s Indian Wedding

Salonie and Kurt's Indian Wedding: A Celebration of Love and Tradition

As a wedding photographer, it's always an honour to be a part of someone's special day. But when Salonie and Kurt chose me to capture their three-day Indian wedding, I knew it was going to be an unforgettable experience.

The festivities began with the sangeet party in Ravenshead. This was an evening filled with joy, laughter, and music as the families of the bride and groom came together to celebrate the upcoming nuptials - and what a celebration it was! Friends and family danced the night away, and the energy was contagious. As a photographer, I had so many beautiful moments to capture, from the intricate henna designs on Salonie's hands to the laughter and dancing between the couple and their guests.

The following day was the grah shanti in Derby, a pre-wedding ritual that seeks the blessings of the gods and ancestors. This was a more intimate affair, but no less meaningful. It was clear that the families took the tradition seriously, and I felt privileged to be able to document this aspect of their culture.

Finally, the big day arrived, and we all gathered at Holme Pierrepont Hall in Notts for the Indian ceremony. The hall's elegant interiors and picturesque grounds made for the perfect backdrop for the wedding. I was particularly taken with the beautiful mandap, which was adorned with fresh flowers. Salonie looked absolutely stunning in her traditional lehenga, and Kurt looked sharp in his sherwani. I was in my element, capturing every moment – from the joy on the couple's faces during the pheras to the quiet moments of reflection during the Kanyadaan.

I always try to capture the emotions and the energy of the day, and there was certainly no shortage of either at Salonie and Kurt's wedding. I particularly enjoyed the couple's speeches and first dance.

Overall, Salonie and Kurt's Indian Wedding was a truly unforgettable experience. It was an incredible three-day celebration, and I feel honoured to have been a part of it. Salonie and Kurt's love and joy were evident throughout, and I hope that the photos I took will help them relive those special moments for years to come.
