NICK & CAT’S TUSCAN CASTLE WEDDING

There’s something about the light out in Tuscany, everything’s softer and warmer. When Nick & Cat showed me where they were getting married I was thrilled to be part of the celebrations. They had an entourage of family and friends out there with them and they all stayed at the same accommodation overlooking the Tuscan countryside. Nick & Cat sneakily didn’t tell anyone where they were exactly getting married, they organised transport to get everyone from the accommodation to the castle, but more on that in a moment.

Tuscany, as you would expect is beautiful, winding roads take you up rolling hills with tiny villages sat on the top (just make sure you hire a car that’s got enough power to get up the hills.) Their accommodation was a working vineyard, had it’s own pool and a selection of villas off from the main building in which all the family and friends were staying.

I arrived on the Wednesday afternoon, as everyone was enjoying themselves around the pool. A communal alfresco dinner and drinks after sunset as the last few guests flew in. The morning of the wedding was again spent around the pool, enjoying a few drinks, and lunch. The wedding was at 4pm in the castle that no-one knew about and you wouldn’t want it any earlier because of the heat. I spent the morning with everyone, one minute around the pool, the next with the lads getting ready (one of them had a minor trousers mishap) and then over to Cat and the girls as they had hair and makeup.

It took us 30 minutes to get over to the castle, where all the guests were already waiting. After a beautiful outdoor ceremony and a couple of personal readings from family it was time for the prosecco and antipasti to begin. The best man Joe held his nerve for his speech but I have to say I though Nick got off pretty lightly. Obviously a very good friend… After an amazing 5 course dinner we did a slightly alternative cake cutting which basically involved Nick and Cat eating a load of local gelato. The DJ and the party went on late before everyone made their way back to the accommodation. Good Times! My Favourite Bits: Bombing in the pool, the short trousers, the views, the outdoor ceremony, my fiat 500, the food, the portraits with Cat & Nick and that dance floor action. Enjoy!
