A City Centre Wedding
The Arkwright Rooms are located right in the city centre. Part of the University, there is an awesome combination of late 19th Century architecture and modern glass expanses. The main courtyard in the centre of the building is a real sun trap, especially on this warm summer day.
I met up with Rebecca at her family home in north Nottingham where she enjoyed the morning with her immediate family. Ryan got himself ready at their home before heading into Nottingham. The ceremony was at 12.30 in the old chemistry theatre, incredibly styled by Rebecca and Ryan the day before. The room is a beauty, so clean, crisp and elegant with huge windows down three sides, high ceilings and solid wood floor. Rebecca walked down the aisle with the grand piano to meet Ryan who was waiting with his two young boys as ring bearers.
The ceremony went without hitch, if you don't include the part where the rings went rolling on the floor (to everyone's amusement!) and there were two great readings. The afternoon was spent outside in the sunny courtyard, throwing confetti, playing giant jenga, drinking bubbles and having a few portrait photos. Dinner was served in the old library on the top floor, overlooking the city, this was also where they held the speeches and the evening party. Later on in the afternoon the weather turned and we had a fair amount of rain. Obviously we used this to our advantage and made some artistic late night photos with an umbrella...and why not...Enjoy!
